We create a safe, supportive space to help you overcome obstacles, develop a plan, and make meaningful progress.

If this is your first appointment, here’s what you can expect.

Scheduling Your Appointment

Momentum provides flexible, virtual therapy options for your convenience. You’ll receive the same level of professionalism and quality care as you would in traditional in-person therapy, but it’s easier to schedule at a time that works for you.

When you’re ready to make your appointment, use our Find a Therapist tool to match with the right professional based on your specific needs, preferences, and therapy goals.

During the First Session

Your therapy sessions are strictly confidential, creating a safe space for you to share openly.

In your first session, the focus will be on getting to know you better — learning about your background, why you’re seeking therapy, and what goals you have for treatment. We may ask about any previous therapy experiences or what’s prompted you to take this step now.

While we may start outlining a plan to move forward, the first session is more about understanding your needs and seeing if we’re the right fit for each other. Whether you’re feeling anxious or ready to dive in, our licensed therapists will meet you where you are to help you feel comfortable.

How to Prepare

You don’t need to do much to prepare for your first session, but it’s helpful to take some time to reflect on your reasons for seeking therapy and any goals you have for yourself. For therapy to be most effective, it helps to be open and dedicated to the process. The more you put into therapy, the more benefits you will experience.

Before your first session, you’ll complete a set of intake forms, including a questionnaire that helps us understand your background and needs, as well as a few additional forms to establish you as a client. While there’s no need to prepay for your first session, we do securely hold a credit card on file to finalize your appointment. Our goal is to make this process as smooth and easy as possible, so you can focus on starting your therapy journey.

Once your appointment is confirmed, you’ll receive a secure link in your email. When it’s time for your session, simply click the link to join the virtual meeting room. We suggest using headphones to reduce background noise and help you stay focused, ensuring a more comfortable and distraction-free session.
